Survival of the cheapest: Oct 27, 2016

Welcome to the second in what  now classifies as a series of posts highlighting survival game deals that have been spotted on various online stores. This being the season of trickery and treats means that most of the survival deals include lashings of horror, but there are a couple of sandboxy treats out there if you look hard enough.

We’ll start with the Humble Store, where the Halloween Sale has just kicked off with tempting deals for various horror franchises, such as the Dead Island games, the Metro Redux Bundle, a good selection of Resident Evil titles (including the Remaster of the first game and the essential Resident Evil 4), the hilarious Dead Rising series and Dying Light. Edging more towards the kind of survival gameplay we like to see you’ll find The Forest and 7 Days to Die reduced too.

Also having a seasonal sale on scary stuff is Green Man Gaming, with a similar set of deals to Humble when it comes to big name horror franchises (Resi, Metro, Dead Rising), but where you’ll also find reductions on Lifeless Planet (not to be confused with Lifeless, which is also on sale), Darkout and Wasteland 2.

No doubt GOG will reveal it’s Halloween reductions later on today, but for now there are deals on Dead Space and the Spore Collection, coinciding with a new batch of old EA games having their DRM guts ripped out at long last.

Last but not least we have the mighty Steam, which has a couple of days left on a deal for Sheltered (not to be confused with the Shelter series, which, yes, is also going cheap), as well as Organ Trail, FortressCraft Evolved and The Solus Project. No themed Halloween sale has been activated as yet, but you can bet there’ll be one kicking off in a few hours with some substantial deals. I’ll be catching a flight when the sale goes live, but I’ll update this post as soon as I can.
