Osiris’ Dawn of Aziel update: As cold as ice

By all accounts it’s not the most hospitable planet, nor is it immediately accessible if you’re starting the game anew, but the ice moon of Aziel is finally within range of Osiris’ explorers as part of the Dawn of Aziel update that went live on Monday.

Requiring a spaceship to reach (don’t expect the option to just spawn there when you start a new game) Aziel is home to two new creatures, four new minerals and temperatures so brass monkeys that you’ll be reminded that there’s also a new system in the game that makes players more susceptible to extreme weather conditions.

Back on the Mars-like world of Proteus 2 there are four new varieties of plant to harvest, greater frequency of meteor showers and crashed satellites to rummage through. More generally asteroids can be mined, there’s a decoding minigame, four new melee weapons and a good few newly craftable items and stations, such as a 3D printer, flood lights, a chemstation and an excrement collector.

Quite a significant update then – and another game to forlornly put near the top of the games-I-need-to-play-again-at-some-point-over-the-festive-season list.
